‘Avarice’ 

The Kentucky group continues to push to boundaries of modern rock on their astonishing new collection of songs. 

Since emerging with their debut album ‘Dhalgren’ in 2016, Cultural Vultures have been cultivating a unique blend of dreamy indie rock and intricate orchestral pop. They made a major break through the following year with ‘Zero History,’ which took frontman Danny Schneider's songwriting to new heights. Their newest EP showcases everything they do well, making it their most compelling release to date. 

Opening track ‘Mechanical Savior’ explores our increasingly dystopian, tech-based society, blending an evocative vocals performance with complex harmonies and adventurous instrumentation. ‘Greater Fool’ continues to expand on this theme, nodding to classic groups like Pink Floyd and Radiohead while pushing their genre into new territory. 

Album Highlight ‘Arms’ has a gritty electronic edge to it, providing a perfect counterpoint to its instantly memorable chorus. ‘All or Nothing’ and ‘Petty Regrets’ each reveal new sides of the group’s artistry, while closing track ‘Moon Without a Face’ brings the EP to a melancholy yet cathartic close. ‘Avarice’ is a brilliantly composed collection of songs that speaks directly to our times.
