School of Rock Mason is not your average music school. They combine the traditional private lesson with weekly show rehearsals that will get you performing on stage before live audiences at real rock venues. Throughout the month of August you can check out School of Rock all over town!
We sat down with Libby Hager with the House Band playing tonight with School of Rock on Fountain Square. Tonight is her last School of Rock show as she is headed off to Ohio University next week to start her freshman year to study music production!
What inspired you to play music?
In seventh grade I started listening to real bands, not just pop music. I just fell in love with what I heard and picked up the guitar to start being a part of it. It wasn't until I got to School of Rock though that I got the chance to really play with other talented kids.
What was the first concert you attended?
Rise Against. It was awesome and still remains the best I have seen.
What is your dream concert to attend?
Going back in time to see Led Zeppelin in the early 70's
What are some artists you would like to play with?
Artist I would love to work with: Dave Grohl. He's done so much...I love all his music from Nirvana to the Foo Fighters
Local artists I would love to work with: The Cla-zels. I have seen them many times. They play cool small venues, have tons of energy, make great and varied music...and they are the nicest people
What has been your best experience at School of Rock?
We put a band together and played two days at Summerfest in Milwaukee in a School of rock Battle of the Bands. It was a blast to play, to bond with my band mates, and then to watch others at the festival such as Pat Benatar, Alice Cooper, The Wailers and Silversun Pickups play the same stages we were on.
What are your plans after School of Rock?
I am headed to OU to study music production
