Fans of music and art alike will have the opportunity to enjoy an evening featuring the intersection of both at the second annual installment of Flooded, a gig poster exhibition. The free exhibition — a collaboration by 21c Museum Hotel, Powerhouse Factories, Josh Mattie of the Contemporary Arts Center and other regional screen printers — highlights the art of hand-crafted, screen printed show posters. The exhibition is returning for a special, single night engagement on September 19th at 21c Museum Hotel Cincinnati in the 2nd Floor Main Gallery after the exhibit’s well-received inaugural show in 2013.
"Last year was a great showcase of work and music that really set the stage for MPMF and it got people stoked for the shows to come," said Pat Jones, Powerhouse Factories’ Co-founder. “This year we wanted to run it back with a more intimate, one night event that brings the music and art together, all at once. All of the artists have had their hands in planning the show this year and we have some great collaborative pieces to show and give away.” The show will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will feature the work of eight regional artists and studios, including prints by Southpaw Prints, Cryptogram, Powerhouse Factories, TOMMYINK, Neltner Small Batch, Madpixel, BLDG and Rob Warnick. Lucky, randomly selected attendees of the exhibition will have the chance to score a 9-color, hand-pulled, limited edition poster created collaboratively by the participating artists for the event. The special exhibition will also include a musical performance by Cincinnati indie band State Song. Check out an interview with the band from last year HERE!
"At 21c, we welcome the opportunity to expose people to the immense variety of creative talent present in this community," says Eli Meiners, 21c Museum Hotel Director of Museum Operations. "Flooded celebrates the dynamic intersection of art, design, and music happening throughout Cincinnati this fall."
