S. Carey is best known for being the drummer and supporting vocalist for Bon Iver. Now with 2 solo albums under his belt, Carey has made a name for himself and is co-headlining The Southgate House Revival with Califone on Thursday September 11th.
Range of Light, S. Carey's follow up to his 2010 debut, streamed on The New York Times' T Magazine and was recently named one of The Best Albums of 2014 So Far by Stereogum as well as SPIN who likened it to "a mist-kissed travelogue that's rich with a sensation of discovery, but imbued with a comforting familiarity. Range of Light incorporates his being a mainstay of Bon Iver as well as more input on the performance (and composition) side from the band of musicians and best friends he originally assembled to bring All We Grow to life. With the full band in tow, S. Carey creates an immersive live show of sparkling orchestral folk - putting the audience in the thick of Range of Light's ethereal landscapes.
Califone is an experimental rock band from Chicago. Califone has been busy playing sold-out living room shows and festivals behind Stitches - which Aquarium Drunkard called one of their top albums of 2013. Califone's Tim Rutili also directed the stunning single-take, single-shot video "Movie Music Kills a Kiss."
Each band is an experience to see live. This will not be just a show, but an adventure.
