Songwriting legend Bobby Braddock described him as, “like Prine but with a Southern bent.” His voice has been described as, “laced with Cohen, Cash, and Waits.” Florida singer-songwriter Grant Peeples describes himself, “I’m a LeftNeck: a vegetarian that watches NASCAR, a tree-hugger who keeps a gun under the seat.” Put it all together and it makes for a mix of of socio-political anthems and heart-gigging ballads of love and loss, with enough Roger Miller type humor to balance and lighten the fare.
Peeples will play the Folk School Coffee Parlor in Ludlow on Tuesday, February 16th!
In 2014 Peeples was the recipient of the Focus Foundation Award for Creative Excellence, which cited the “humor, compassion and wisdom of his songs,” as well as their "unflinching social insight and cultural acuity.” His nationwide tours have included performances at The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, OK, The Living Room in New York City, and The Triple Door in Seattle. His records, produced by Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Robert Earl Keen) have topped Folk/Roots charts in the US and in Europe.
Peeples is touring in support of his newly released record, A Congress of Treasons, which will be available for sale and signing at the show. The show starts at 6 pm on Tuesday, February 16th. The Folk School Coffee Parlor is located at 332 Elm St. in Ludlow, KY. Suggested donation is $10, with all proceeds going to the artist. For more information, visit HERE or call 859-206-1269.
