Second Sunday on Main (SSOM), the eclectic street festival of Over-the-Rhine, will celebrate life on Main Street in OTR for residents and visitors alike. This free monthly event is held June to October, noon to 5 PM. Now in its 11th year, Second Sunday on Main has grown to include an outdoor beer garden, music and performances on three stage areas, food trucks, over 120 local vendors, and over 30 participating shops, galleries, restaurants and bars on Main Street.
Second Sunday on Main (SSOM) was founded in 2005 as an economic initiative for the Main Street Business District. The festival was created to bring more people to the sidewalks of Over-the-Rhine on Sunday afternoons to shop, socialize, congregate, dine and enjoy the music, the art, the neighborhood and one another. In 2005, the festival set an attendance goal of 200 people; this year, Second Sunday on Main is expecting thousands of visitors.
This year, SSOM celebrates a bigger footprint and more programming. The festival, which initially spanned Main Street from 13th Street to Liberty, will once again extend to the 1200 block of Main Street.
Even as the festival continues to grow and change with the neighborhood, Second Sunday on Main’s focus will continue to stay true to its original mission to celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of the community, and to highlight the local shops and businesses on Main Street. “Second Sunday on Main introduces people to what makes Main Street and its small businesses unique. Many people come out to Second Sunday and then return year-round to visit the shops that call Main Street home,” says Julie Fay of Iris Book Cafe.

On September 11th, Main Street will celebrate live performances and the opening of the Cincinnati Street Car! Ride the Cincinnati Bell Connector on down to Main Street to enjoy beer sponsored by the Cincinnati Sports Leagues and served by the Cincinnati Preservation Collective. The event will feature live performances, over 100 vendors, local shops, food trucks, and an unmatchable atmosphere. Kids and pets are welcome to this family-friendly event and the festival is free of charge to attend.
