We sat down with C The Gray prior to the show to chat about working hard, giving the best he has, and the live show.
Give us some background n C The Gray…
First things first, I'm a 21-year old hip hop artist striving for success. I breathe music, I've grown up in trailer parks listening to whatever was around me, and I've taken in ALL genres to create my own sound. I’ve learned a lot in my 21 years from situations such as flushing toilets, with gallons of water, with candles being our source of light, because our family couldn't afford the light and water bill, and/or the devastation of my step sister overdosing on my bathroom floor one year ago. I've taken things like this and learned to never take anything for granted in life.
So when I started this music career, I knew I would have to work hard for every opportunity and take full advantage of every opportunity I would be given. That’s what I've done so far. That’s what I’ll continue to do, rather it's doing a show opening for the #1 independent hip hop artist in the world, Tech N9ne, for thousands of people, or performing for 5 people, I'm gonna give you the best I got, always. And I promise you will not be disappointed in the live show or the music.
What can one expect at a live show?
A live show is the most important thing in your music career in my opinion. So with that being said we go all out. I always perform with my best friend "Mizani" and his lyrical ability and delivery are just as smooth as mine. We take very much pride in our live show, rather you like Hip Hop or not you will be moving your feet and having a good time I put my name on that. we have a very diverse crowd as well. You should expect to fit in, see a top notch performance backed by a DJ, smoke cannons, and ALOT of energy in one room. WE WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. I PROMISE.
When did you decide that music was going to be your career?
I decided I would do this for the rest of my life and as a career the first time I hit the stage. I felt the adrenaline pierce through my body and I knew there was never going to be a better feeling than expressing all my REAL art for a crowd and those faces vibing with you. its surreal. I have so much creativity in my body, and I also feel the need to be a leader. There is no better outlet than music. and I will use it the rest of my life.
What is next for C The Gray?
Well I just dropped my debut album Class Of on all major distribution sites, featuring major artists such as "Kutt Calhoun" and "JL (B.Hood)" (Strange Music's Newest Signee). but I continue to write every single day and book shows in and out of town. What’s next is the big show coming up December 30th. Then I'm going to start the new year off by continuing to dedicate myself to this lifestyle and you will see us doing bigger shows and releasing new music in 2017. If you want to hear my music you can search "C The Gray" on almost any distribution site, or hear my singles on YouTube. And if you want to fully experience "C The Gray" then I suggest coming out to see us perform. You will continue to come back. I promise.
