School of Rock Mason will feature its 15-member House Band, a select band that features some of its best young musicians. They will play music from Aerosmith to Zappa. The school will also include the best songs from its Performance Program’s recent Spring Show Season. The Spring Season shows were: Guns N’ Roses Tribute, a Soul Revue, Tribute to The Killers and Muse, British Invasion, Off The Dial, and Yacht Rock. More than 65 students ranging in age from 10 to 18 will perform over the course of the evening.

“Bogart’s is very excited to present this showcase of some of the best young musicians in the area,” said Fin Walter, General Manager of Bogart’s. “We have a long history of supporting local bands and championing up and coming bands. These kids will be part of the future of the Cincinnati music scene.”

Also performing that evening will be The Bassless Chaps and Freak Mythology. All four members of The Bassless Chaps are current or graduated School of Rock Mason students, including two who have been School of Rock National AllStars. Three of the four band members of Freak Mythology are current or former students of School of Rock Mason, including two National AllStars. Both bands have been building a name for themselves in the local music scene. Freak Mythology won Rick’s Tavern’s Cincinnati’s Next Big Band competition last summer and the Madison Theater Band Challenge earlier this year. Freak Mythology’s appearance at Bogart’s will be part of a 15-city June tour, its first major tour.

A portion of the proceeds from the concert will go to CancerFree KIDS, a local non-profit committed to eradicating cancer as a life-threatening disease in children by funding promising research that might otherwise go unfunded.  Each year, CancerFree KIDS reviews and selects research ideas presented by local scientists, funding over $3.5 million in grants over the past 14 years.

"I'm impressed with the generosity of Mason School of Rock for hosting a live concert event benefiting CancerFree KIDS," said Ellen Flannery, CancerFree KIDS Founder and Executive Director. It was great to have School of Rock perform at our 6th annual Night for the Fight fundraiser in February. We are excited to continue to build this relationship. Our mission is to eradicate cancer as a life-threatening disease in children by funding promising research that might otherwise go unfunded. On behalf of the children and families impacted by cancer, CancerFree KIDS thanks Mason School of Rock for your support of pediatric cancer research."
