Tomorrow Carbon Leaf will be at Ludlow Garage celebrating a monumental 25-year anniversary and the upcoming release of Gathering Vol. 1, their first batch of new songs since 2014. "We’ve been gifted an opportunity to write and perform in front of an audience for 25 years now and it’s hard to believe,” reflects Carbon Leaf’s Barry Privett. "We are lucky to have someone on the other end, receiving what we create, and giving back a connectedness that not everyone gets to experience. There is a lot of space, time, and miles on either end of a 2-hour show. Our audience has been the thing that sustains us and drives us forward. It’s not something we take for granted.”
Available exclusively through Carbonleaf.com, Gathering Vol. 1 is the first of a 4-volume series under the ‘Gathering’ title. Gathering Vol. 1 focuses on community, celebrating each moment, the faces of grief, and the many simple gifts within arms-reach. This collection is a reflective and lively guest-driven acoustic album that features Galway and We Banjo 3 on banjo, mandolin, and fiddle.
With a career spanning 25 years, 17 albums, and 2,400+ live shows, Carbon Leaf’s independent spirit and vibrant music continues to resonate with its fans. The group blends folk, Celtic, bluegrass, Americana and rock traditions into what the group calls 'Ether-Electrified Porch Music,' a term coinedfrom its 1999 album of the same name. The Virginia quintet’s songs of life, love, heartbreak and landscape are independently written, recorded and produced from its own studio in Richmond.
Come out and celebrate with Carbon Leaf!
