Sungaze Release Self-Titled Album and Celebrate at Woodward Theater

Keeping their thundering momentum of 2024 in full swing, Sungaze is set to release their emphatic self-titled studio album on August 30th! Building on the strong sonic foundations of singles "So Light," "Freer Than I Could Be" and "Lost My Head," the American duo are turning thousands of heads with their effortless blend of heavy grunge tracks and upbeat dream pop anthems.

Sungaze will celebrate their album release on Saturday, August 31st at The Woodward Theater with Fern Murphy and Ascension Day! Tier 1 ticket holders will receive a free CD and gift at their table!

Starting with the effortlessly ethereal "Time Is On The Wind" all the way through to the sonically retrospective "World Won’t Wait," Sungaze is a dreamy offering into the powerful dreamworld of Sungaze. The album offers a mix of five heavier tracks and five lighter tracks, showcasing the band’s musical diversity. Whether the album is soaring at its most charged, or sliding along the airwaves with the most vulnerable of acoustic melodies, Sungaze are not afraid to defy musical expectations. Complete with abrasive walls of sound and graceful synthesis, there is no corner of sonic ground that ‘Sungaze’ does not shine light on.

“We like to think of this album as a “coming of age” album. The songs are more personal and direct than we’ve written in the past, and each track on this album details pretty major life themes that have been present for us in the past few years. And as is often displayed in coming of age stories, there was an element of soul-searching and a level of self-acceptance that needed to happen in order for this album to even exist at all.”

Sungaze is the creative brainchild of Ian Hilvert and Ivory Snow. After unveiling their debut full-length in 2019, the group have moved from strength to strength as their music glides effortlessly between a set of decade spanning influences. The band are captivated by emotional exploration within their music as they illustrate the transient nature of feeling through their music. Whilst Hilvert and Snow remain the primitive forces behind the project, Sungaze form a six-piece band for their dynamic live shows. The live line-up features Snow's sister Angela Colvin on bass guitar and backing vocals, Zach Starkie on rhythm guitar, Charlie Hausfeld on keys and Justin Van Wagenen on drums.
