Royal Holland Releases Unique Vinyl Records & Launches Music Subscription Service

Royal Holland recently visited Leesta Vall Sound Recordings in Brooklyn, NY to record an in office live-to-vinyl session with engineer and owner of Leesta Vall Aaron Zimmer. The session took the course of a Saturday afternoon finding Holland and 3 members of backing band The Rotation (Freedom Nicole Moore, Matt Retherford and Charlie Smith) crammed into a tiny Brooklyn office space. The results of the session were 12 unique takes of 4 different Royal Holland songs (Demimonde, The Grave, Statues and Shore) cut in real time to vinyl record on a lathe that was made in the 1950’s.

Music Resource Center Announces Cincinnati’s Sampler Series

Music Resource Center is excited to announce its second quarterly live music series, The Sampler, will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Aspiring MRC recording artists, vocalists, and musicians will engage the stage. The Sampler grants exclusive access to hear and enjoy the latest music from the center’s diverse community of teens in grades 7-12, who may one day be the music industry’s next innovators. The performance will be held at The Venue, MRC’s sleek black-box/lounge-styled space, and is open to all ages, free of charge.

Celebrate the Life and Music of Tim Goshorn

Tim Goshorn was a musician, a force in the Cincinnati Music Community, and an admirable family man. Goshorn performed with Pure Prairie League, The Goshorn Brothers Band, and The Tim Goshorn Band. The Fort Thomas native was also a member of the Northern Kentucky Music Legends Hall of Fame along with his brother, Larry Goshorn. They were inducted in 2015.

Signs and Songs: An Americana Music Series

The American Sign Museum will present Signs & Songs, an Americana Music Series, on June 17, July 8, and August 11. The series will spotlight three separate nights of live music by some of the Queen City’s top musicians.

Paul Simon has been a musical hero of mine since I was a kid. For whatever reason, the album, Sounds of Silence resonated with me as a young person. I would scribble the lyrics to, “I am a Rock” and “The Sound of Silence” all over my notebooks. The Simon and Garfunkel music catalog catapulted me into a life-long love affair with folk music.
